Allow 30 minutes if you are bringing decorations. Balloons, banners, a cake, a backdrop — all of it has to be carried down the pontoon and set up onboard before the charter clock is useful to you. Fifteen minutes is not enough to hang anything.

Practical drop-off tip. If you have a large group plus coolers, cake and decorations, send one or two people ahead by taxi with the gear while the rest follow. Carrying everything from a distant car park is worse than the extra fare.
No Footwear Worn Onboard
No footwear is worn onboard. This is standard on Singapore charters and it is not negotiable. Shoes damage teak and gelcoat and track grit through the saloon. You take them off at the gangway and they stay there for the duration.
Plan around it:
- Wear something you can slip off. Sandals, slides, or loafers. Lace-up boots and gladiator sandals hold up the whole queue at the gangway.
- Skip heels entirely. They are the worst possible choice for a pontoon walk and useless once onboard.
- Bare feet or socks onboard. Decks get hot in the middle of the day, but they are also shaded in the cockpit and saloon.
What to Wear and Bring
Keep it light. Singapore is hot and humid, and you are on the water.
Bring:
- Light clothing — breathable fabrics, swimwear underneath if you plan to get in the water
- A change of clothes — non-negotiable if you are swimming, sensible even if you are not
- Personal toiletries
- Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat
- A dry bag or plastic bag for wet swimwear on the way home
Leave behind: heels, hard-shell luggage, anything you would be upset to see get wet.
Ask your operator what is already onboard before you shop. Towels, ice, and basic amenities differ between vessels, and buying duplicates is a waste.
Wet Weather
Charters generally operate in rain. Tropical showers in Singapore are short and localised — a squall over Sentosa often clears within the hour while the anchorage is fine.

- Do not cancel on a forecast. Morning radar rarely predicts the afternoon accurately here.
- The captain decides. Departure and route calls are the crew's, based on actual sea conditions and safety, not on the weather app.
- Bring a light layer. Wind plus wet clothing gets cold faster than people expect, even at 30°C.
- Have an indoor plan for decorations. Paper banners and open flames on a cake do not survive a squall on an open deck.
